Hello, I'm Jackie Blue, and I'm a List National MP.
My wish for Mt Roskill is that everyone has an equal opportunity to get ahead. This means support for all New Zealand Citizens, be they new immigrants, or born and raised in New Zealand.
I would like to see encouragement for families, good quality education, and rewarding New Zealanders for working hard. I want a safe, happy and prosperous future for all.
About Jackie
In late 2004 Jackie was approached to stand as a National Party candidate. Jackie was selected to stand in Mt Roskill electorate and in the 2005 general election elected as a List MP .
Jackie is married to Dave with two children. Jackie knows all the stresses and strains of juggling professional and family life. However, she has not forgotten her sense of humour, and being a former GP nothing seems to phase her. Jackie gets much pleasure from meeting people, listening to concerns and finding solutions. Jackie is New Zealand’s first Breast Physician, and is passionate about ensuring that New Zealand women have access to high quality breast cancer services. In her first term of Parliament she lobbied strongly for women with Her-2 breast cancer to have access to 12 months of Herceptin treatment. This eventually became a 2008 National Party election promise and was implemented by Christmas 2008. Jackie is also concerned about New Zealander's access to medicines and is an active member of National's Health team.
Prior to her becoming a Member of Parliament Jackie was elected to the Auckland District Health Board in 2004 and is currently on the advisory board of the Breast Cancer Research Trust.
Vision
I believe that for New Zealanders to have a healthy and happy future we must have:
A Strong Economy - A strong economy creates real opportunities and allows us to care for our people and our environment. You can't have world class health, education or superannuation schemes unless you have a world class economy.
Safety and Security - Within our homes, our businesses, our communities and our country. We need good policing, and firm control of crime.
Opportunities for All - Fair, equitable treatment for all New Zealanders. Equal opportunities regardless of race, creed or gender.
Excellence in Health – I believe our front line providers (Dr, Nurses, and Community Cares) deserve the best support and funding, I also believer that our precious health funds can be better utilized. A National led government has pledged this.
Clean Green Environment - Clean water, clear air, and the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors are the birthright of all New Zealanders.
